FAQ

Questions, answered.

What is RipRoom?

A live room for opening real, sealed trading card product (Pokémon and sports). Collectors claim slots, watch their packs opened on stream, and keep the cards, each with a verified Pull Record.

Is this gambling?

RipRoom sells real sealed product at a fixed price per slot, and what comes out of your pack is yours. We don't run mystery products with platform-set odds, prize pools, raffles, or buybacks.

What happens when I claim a slot?

The slot is held for you for 60 seconds while you check out, and no one else can take it. If you don't complete checkout in time, it opens back up.

Who holds my card after the rip?

The creator who ripped it holds it for you until you ask for it to be shipped, or sent straight to a grading company. Every handoff is added to the card's Pull Record.

What is a Pull Record? Is it an NFT?

It's a signed, tamper-evident history of the physical card, from the rip through shipping and grading. It is not an NFT: there are no tokens or crypto involved. Learn more.

How do I check a card's record?

Scan the QR code or enter the code (like RR-7K3F-9QX2) at Verify a card. Your browser checks every step itself.

Is my personal information in the record?

No. Records never contain emails or addresses. Buyers appear as first name and last initial, and tracking numbers are reduced to the last 4 digits plus a fingerprint.

Can I just record my own packs?

Yes. Start a Rip & Record session to document your own rips. Nothing is sold, and every card still gets its own Pull Record.

How does card scanning work?

Creators hold a card up to their phone camera and an AI model reads the name, set and number. The creator always confirms before anything is logged, and the record notes whether the card was scanned or entered by hand.

Can I watch the moment my card was pulled?

Yes, when the break was streamed on RipRoom. Each pull gets a short clip cut from the recording at the moment it was logged, attached to its Pull Record. Find it on the card's certificate or in My Collection, and download it to share.

Can I see Twitch chat in a RipRoom room?

Yes, if the creator turns it on. Their Twitch chat appears in the room next to RipRoom chat, marked with a Twitch tag. It's read-only for now: to claim a slot, type !claim in RipRoom. YouTube and Kick chat, and claiming from other platforms, are coming.

How do I know when a creator goes live?

Follow them from their creator page or their live room and we'll email you when they go live (at most once every 6 hours per creator). Turn alerts off per creator or entirely in My Collection, or with the link in any alert email.

Can I add cards I already own?

Yes. In My Collection, choose Add a card you own, then find it in the catalog or take a photo. These cards are labelled "Scanned in · owner-registered", because their history starts when you add them, not at a rip.

Do paid plans exist yet?

Not yet. RipRoom is in early access and no fees are charged. Tap Notify me on the pricing page and we'll email you when paid plans open.

How do I become a creator?

Anyone can start with Rip & Record. Selling slots is invite-only during early access.

Who can use RipRoom?

RipRoom is for people 18 and older.

Is RipRoom affiliated with Pokémon or any league?

No. RipRoom is independent and isn't affiliated with The Pokémon Company, any card manufacturer, or any sports league.
